Eco-Christmas Series: Green Giving

Christmas spending and giving has been around since the Three Wise Men visited Jesus and present their gifts of frankincense, myrrh, and gold.  Gift giving and generosity are wonderful, but I think it is important to be mindful especially at this time of year when we have a tendency to get carried away.  Think about your personal values and work towards having those coincide with purchases.  Here are some options to consider.

I've moved to a new website! Head on over to Heartful Habits for the full post. Thanks!

  1. We try to strike a balance. We usually get the kids one present and their stocking, mostly candy. I figure they get a lot of gifts from everyone else so one is enough. Also, we find an angel tree of some sort each year and we each donate a gift to whomever we pick from the tree. It's fun to see the giving and receiving in Christmas. We have also bought 2nd hand gifts and home made gifts. This year I found a canucks jersey second hand for Ky and a cute Calgary flames shirt for El for $2! Ken is getting a pooh bear robe and slippers that we bought from a friend who's daughter outgrew it. It's fun searching that way. Still looking for E's gift.

  2. loved that link you posted! i love giving and receiving gifts and kind of hate when people jump on the "just say no to gift exchanges" bandwagon. we still keep our gifts low key and focus more on the thought and sentiment that goes with it, but we definitely exchange with family and friends. i would be sad if we didn't!
